You may have seen something in the media this week about a Russian cybersecurity threat called “CrashOverride,” a new malware capable of disrupting electric grid systems. Following a recent similar cyber security breach in the Ukraine, nearly 225,000 customers were affected by outages.
While there’s no immediate cause for concern, we want our members to be aware of this threat and know that we’re monitoring the situation closely.
“We’re in the process of training all employees on cybersecurity and will continue to assess possible risks so we can provide adequate protection for our members,” said Jeff Keen, Vice President of Information Technology at Jackson EMC.
